Buy an E-Bike or E-Scooter in Switzerland: What to Consider

Before buying, three questions are worth asking: How far do you travel daily, do you take the vehicle on the train or by car, and where can you charge it? Road Approval and Rules: What Applies in Switzerland

All E-Scooters and E-Bikes from TWHEELS are road-approved in Switzerland. The key rules at a glance (as of July 2026):

Since the revision in July 2025, E-Scooters without a seat must be ridden alone and standing. TWHEELS E-Bikes belong to the 25 km/h class: no license plate, no helmet requirement, from 16 years old without a driver’s license.

Sind E-Scooter in der Schweiz erlaubt?
Ja. Strassenzugelassene E-Scooter bis 20 km/h gelten als Leicht-Motorfahrräder und dürfen auf Velowegen und Strassen fahren, das Trottoir ist tabu. Alle TWHEELS E-Scooter sind in der Schweiz strassenzugelassen.
Ab welchem Alter darf man in der Schweiz E-Scooter fahren?
Ab 14 Jahren mit Führerausweis Kategorie M, ab 16 Jahren ohne Ausweis. Dieselbe Regel gilt für E-Bikes mit Tretunterstützung bis 25 km/h.
Gibt es eine Helmpflicht für E-Scooter oder E-Bike?
Für E-Scooter und E-Bikes bis 25 km/h gibt es in der Schweiz keine Helmpflicht, ein Helm wird aber dringend empfohlen. Nur schnelle E-Bikes bis 45 km/h haben eine Helmpflicht. Passende Helme findest du im eMobility-Zubehör.
Braucht ein E-Bike ein Kontrollschild?
E-Bikes bis 25 km/h brauchen kein Kontrollschild und keine Vignette. Nur S-Pedelecs bis 45 km/h benötigen ein gelbes Kontrollschild. Alle TWHEELS E-Bikes gehören zur 25-km/h-Klasse.
Wie weit komme ich mit einer Akkuladung?
Die TWHEELS E-Bikes schaffen bis zu 80 km, das E-Mountainbike bis zu 100 km, die E-Scooter 45 bis 65 km. Die reale Reichweite hängt von Fahrmodus, Gewicht, Topografie und Temperatur ab.
Kann ich vor dem Kauf Probe fahren?
Ja. Vereinbare einfach einen Termin, dann kannst du dein Wunschmodell vor Ort testen und in Ruhe vergleichen, bevor du dich entscheidest.
Mein E-Bike wirkt langsam. Was kann ich tun?
