Weight Vest Exercises: Training with Added Weight

8 ÜbungenZusammengestellt von Lena Brunner

The weighted vest makes familiar exercises more challenging without requiring additional equipment: walking becomes rucking, while squats and push-ups get more resistance. The weight sits close to your body, so your movements remain unrestricted.

Here you’ll find eight exercises, from brisk walking to a complete circuit, along with clear guidelines for starting weight and progression.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight should I start with?
With about 5 to 10 percent of your body weight. Only increase when posture and execution stay clean for the whole session, the weight should challenge you, not break your technique.
How long should I wear the vest?
For the length of your session, about 20 to 45 minutes. With rucking you can walk longer. Wearing it all day brings no extra benefit and only tires your shoulders and back.
What is rucking?
Brisk walking with added weight, outdoors or on the WalkingPad. It combines an endurance and a strength stimulus in a movement you already master perfectly: walking.
Can I also jog with the vest?
For walking, hiking and strength exercises the vest is ideal. When jogging, the added weight clearly increases the impact load, so increase especially carefully and only with light weight.
