The optimum temperature is 20 °C. However, e-scooter batteries also work well at ambient temperatures between 5 and 25 °C. The maximum range should still be achievable in this range.
In the cold season, you have to expect that the range is reduced. In concrete terms, this means that you will have to charge the battery more frequently in the winter months.
Today's batteries you can charge as much as you want. In fact, it is advisable to charge the battery often and not run it down.
E-scooter and e-bike riding in winter goes great
Depending on the battery charge, the range of the e-scooter or e-bike can drop to up to 70% of the usual performance in sub-zero temperatures. If the battery warms up again, it can provide the usual power again - this means that a ride at low temperatures does not harm the battery.
Optimal storage of the e-bike & e-scooter battery pack
If you do not ride your e-bike or e-scooter in winter, the battery should be stored in a dry place away from sunlight at temperatures of 10 - 20 degrees Celsius. Attention, never near hot or flammable objects. If the battery is stored separately, make sure that the contacts are far from metallic objects, as they could cause a short circuit.
Uncharged e-bike & e-scooter batteries
Never store an uncharged battery for a long time. The e-scooter or e-bike battery could fall into deep discharge, which can damage the battery cells. If the battery is stored for a long time, it should be ensured that it is between 60 and 90 %. However, it is recommended to check the charge level at least every 1-2 months and recharge if necessary.
Does storing the e-scooter and e-bike battery for too long lead to an impairment of the storage capacity?
The storage capacity of a battery is important for the range of an e-bike or e-scooter. Depending on the battery charge (number of charge cycles, full charge/partial charge, deep discharge) and storage (storage temperature), the battery wears out at different rates. The storage capacity of the rechargeable battery can decrease slightly during longer storage. We therefore recommend that you store the battery under the correct conditions to minimize wear.
